The Office of the Commissioner is led by the Commissioner assisted by a mix of professionals including persons with a medical and health professionals background together with legal expertise. The operational aspects are carried out by an Assistant director together with the relevant administrative and support staff.

Dr Denis Vella Baldacchino is the current Commissioner in office after his predecessor Dr John Cachia who held office between 2012-2021.
