European Mental Health Week 2025 (EMHW 2025)- May 19th-25th 2005
Theme chosen by Mental Health Europe (MHE), Care for Mental Health, invest in Social Rights
In order to promote the European Mental Health Week 2025. The Office of the Commissioner for the Rights of Persons with Mental Disorders (OCMH) has once again teamed up with media to gain as much coverage as possible during the week.
The promotion included the Programme on NET TV Ġimgħa b’Ġimgħa, aired on 14th May where Josef Bonello interviewed Ms Gertrude Buttigieg from the OCMH and Dr Justine De Gray from the Accident and Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital Ġimgħa b’Ġimgħa 14/05/2025 (interview starts at 1.00hr).
Ms Gertrude Buttigieg from the OCMH was interviewed by Ms Antonella Vassallo on the TV programme Għaddi s’hawn on 22nd May. Intervew Għaddi s’Hawn 22/05/2025. That same evening Dr Denis Vella Baldacchino, Commissioner together with Prof Anton Grech were interviewed by Ms Stephanie Spiteri for the progamme ‘Illum Ma Steph’ Interview on Illum Ma Steph 22/05/2025 starts at 12.40′.
The programme Realtà of the 10th June 2025, produced and presented by Brian Hansford was also dedicated to the theme of Mental Health. The Panel consisted of Ms Gertrude Buttigieg (OCMH), Dr Justine De Gray (A&E), Mr Mark Vassallo (Dementia Directorate), Ms Svetlana Baldacchino (FSWS), Mr Kayne Said (Responsible Gaming Foundation), Ms Graziella Schiavone (SOS Malta), Ms Celine Baldacchino (Richmond foundation) and Ms Maria Attard (Victim Support Agency).
Radio stations also supported this week with different opportunities these included:
Radju Malta with an interview aired by Theresa Gauci during the programme Jum b’Jum on 15th May. Dr Denis Vella Baldacchino was interviewed by Tonio Bonello during the programme Il-Polz taċ-Ċittadin aired on the same day. On Monday 19th May The Commissioner was interviewed too during Newsline by Joe Dimech.
Campus FM also dedicated 2 programmes as part of our awareness during the week. These were Therapy Talk with Carl Wright on 19th May Therapy Talk 19/05/2025 and on Campus Magazine with Sonia Young on Wednesday 21st May were the panel was made of Ms Gertrude Buttigieg (OCMH), Ms Svetlana Buttigieg (FSWS) and Mr Mark Farrugia (Dementia Directorate).
Ms Gertrude Buttigieg was interviewed during the radio programme Branch on NET FM presented by Ms Marbeck Spiteri on Monday 19th May. NET FM dedicated the programme Hekk Naħsibha Jien of the Saturday 24th May, presented by Tano Vella. The Panel consisted of Ms Gertrude Buttigieg (OCMH), Dr Rachel Buhagiar (Perinatal Mental Health services), Mr Noel Xerri (OASI Foundation), Ms Rachel Scerri ( Helpline 1579) and Mr Josnef Agius (Victim Support Agency).
The programme Għal Kulhadd on RTK103 of Tuesday 20th May, presented by Christine Delicata supported this week with a panel discussing the theme of Mental Health. The participants were Ms Gertrude Buttigieg (OCMH) and Ms Graziella Schiavone and Ms Rachel Scicluna from Kellimni.com.
